Mini-Grant Project Course & Conference

As part of a 2000 initiative to link technology projects to state standards, I developed and coordinated this model for a competitive RFP linked to participation in a project development in-service course, using district teachers and regional educational service agency instructors to run the sessions. Each project could submit a budget for up to $5,000 in support purchases. 35 participating teachers developed standards-linked projects, and 10 submitted qualifying projects for funding and implementation support.

An all-day showcase conference gave each teaching team 30 minutes for presentations and 30 minutes for feedback from other grant awardees and guest participants who had requested substitute teachers to attend the conference. Teachers told me that the dialog they shared with peers at this conference was a peak experience in professional regard for them. It was an unqualified success.
