Climate Crisis Unit

Learning Expeditions (EL Education) are long interdisciplinary units where students travel outside the school and play real-world roles.  This two-month Climate Crisis unit took our eighth graders to an urban park, neighborhoods with different property values and climate resilience, and (via videoconference) to cities and mountain towns in Puerto Rico. The Matrix includes lesson plans, slide decks, learning targets, and more.

Through a Massachusetts Cultural Council STARS grant we were supported by the Massachusetts Audubon Society, and had many classroom guests including future (we hope) Springfield mayer Jess Lederman and youth climate leaders from the Massachusetts Youth Climate Coalition.
